Anything we come across at the moment is entering our lives; it has a part of it that has a sense of departure-death on its inside. As photography is the medium that can freeze time, it can also be the medium that can best describe this idea of death. In a way, the moment we photograph, we can gaze into the eyes of this death. A burning structure has, for me, a very strong symbolization in this context. The idea of a creation whose only use is its destruction, the enjoyment and pain that this act can produce, the dead land in its aftermath, everything about this “play” has an existential positive nihilism at its core. To deconstruct is to go against the act of reason, to defy the logic of our modern society. That’s why I chose to document this burning act, which has nothing logical in its essence except death and its celebration.
